The atrocious weather conditions resulted in this Cup game being abandoned after 64 minutes, at which point Bridgend had notched up 6 tries (3 in the space of 5 minutes) and three conversions, against one try by Llandovery.
Llandovery had a good first 10 minutes, and also finished the (shortened) game strongly, scoring their try in this final period.
Bridgend had built up a lead of 16-0 after 20 minutes, but dogged Llandovery defence then kept the score constant until halftime.
In the second period Ian Jones and Wyn Williams, a hardworking 2nd row combination for Llandovery, could not secure much lineout ball. The visitors’ score came when outstanding No 8 Dai Giles fed scrum half Eifion Hughes, who sent in replacement wing Martin Rees for a try in the corner. But this was followed by 3 more Bridgend tries.
Ex-Llandovery fly half Aled Williams contributed one of the six Bridgend tries against his old comrades.
