Llandovery continue to suffer from early-season blues as they endured a 29-22 away defeat at the hands of the Carmarthen Quins.
Starting the match in a confident manner, the Drovers were quickly placed under pressure. Although displaying some strong form in the line-out Llandovery were unable to maintain their momentum, despite securing a 13-12 lead by half-time.
Under the leadership of skipper Emyr Jones the Quins continued to look far more focused as they blended strong attacking play with a powerful defence. It was not long before Mike Davies, Giles Thomas and Jones all notched up tries leading the advance. A drop goal from Andrew Lloyd Jones and penalty from Thomas allowed them to stretch their lead to 19-15, before Jones managed to crash over the line one more time.
Adding insult to injury Quins replacement centre Kevin Beynon scored inside a minute of taking the field. Llandovery are now going to have to pull out all the stops when they take on Abercynon on Saturday.
