Aberavon staged a remarkable second-half fight back, to peel off a third successive league victory. The second-placed Wizards looked to be heading for a rare defeat against Llandovery when they trailed 13-0 at the break. And to make matters worse, hooker Jason Hyatt and No 8 Richard Morris, were both yellow carded in the run-up to half time.
But significantly, The Drovers failed to press home the advantage. Llandovery had first use of the strong wind and although fly-half David Lloyd-Jones kicked well out of hand, his goal kicking was wayward. But Aberavon’s acting captain, scrum-half Daniel Hawkins, sparked the revival by darting 45 metres for his first league try for the club. A superb Ricky Price try, allied to a pair of Jamie Davies penalties, made it 18-18 on the hour. The Wizards turned on the magic during the final quarter, with wing Sam Greenaway twice crossing for tries.
