Newbridge edged an entertaining game of rugby as they overcame Llandovery 25-17.
Flanker John Bowd set them on their way with a break that saw him trade passes with wing Gareth Turner before crossing in the corner. The Drovers replied with a fine individual effort from Gary Davies who crossed under the posts for Stuart Harries to convert. But a penalty kicked to touch saw good line-out ball won and Newbridge prop Matthew Price crashed over.
Then, hooker Leighton Phillips set up full-back Huw Lock, who slipped two tackles before crossing. And Matthew Taylor crossed and Jason Williams converted to give the hosts a 20-7 interval lead.
Llandovery fought their way back into the game as full-back Stuart Harries came into the line at pace to go over and convert his own try. Harries and Williams traded penalties to set up a frantic finale.
