DROVERS TITTLE-TATTLE 24 Feb 2010
A weekly diary of news from Church Bank by Huw S Thomas
EBBW VALE
Visitors to Church Bank this Saturday will be bottom but one side Ebbw Vale whose form in recent weeks has shown marked improvement. In their last game they beat Bedwas 23-6. The Steelmen have confirmed the appointment of Rowland Phillips as Head Coach.
TONMAWR
Two former Drovers in the Tonmawr side last week were centre Tal Selley and prop James Jones.
One of the try scorers against Llandovery was full-back Warren Davies, son of former Wales flanker Mark Davies, the current Welsh physio.
STAR MAN
Llandovery’s star performer in the Cup tie was Llandovery College prop Rhodri Jones. He was rock solid at the scrum and carried the ball deep into the heart of the Tonmawr defence on a number of occasions. His future in the game is very bright indeed.
SECONDS STRIFE
Yet again opponents called off a game against the club’s Athletic XV at the eleventh hour. This time it was Felinfoel. The “seconds” have not played for two months with clubs reticent to field anything other than a full side against the very successful Athletic.
