Farewell message from Rob Appleyard

Rob has posted the following message on the Drovers Supporters Club Facebook page:

At the end of an exciting and historic season, with qualification to the B + I cup, I feel the need to make a few thanks for the support I have enjoyed during my time at Llandovery RFC.

The club is one of only a few teams in the Premiership who still run junior and 2nd teams and it is no easy task in the current economic climate. With success being reached at all levels on the field, it is up to all involved to aid the sustainability off the field, whether that means sponsorship or simply attending games regularly in order to bring money into the club.

The committee work tirelessly and deserve the spoils attained this season. The supporters club has passionately followed us, home and away which spurred the players on to some great performances. The web site is something to be proud of and delivers a very professional image of the club to its visitors.

We have tried to give the players an environment where-by they feel looked after on all fronts and our medical team are second to none. We have tried to play running rugby, especially at Church bank and the 1st class condition of the pitches is down to the fantastic work of our ground staff, who are hard working come rain, shine or snow!

Finally I must thank my players and management team. I consider you all as family and will be a proud observer for the forthcoming season. Although my head will be somewhere else, my heart will be in Llandovery. I do not want to mention names for fear of missing someone out, but I must wish Lyndon the best of luck. He has all the qualities to lead the team into a new era, with the challenge of the B + I cup. I hope he gets the same support I received…. Thank you and goodnight. x
