The Drovers were very well represented at the fifth annual Principality Premiership Awards 2010 dinner last Wednesday evening.
Cerith Rees was presented with the award for top Premiership points scorer, a new award added to the ceremony this year.
Cerith’s award was for his points total for the season of 261 points. In addition, although outside the scope of the award, he scored 16 points within our two Cup games, and 23 points within our three League Playoff games, making his grand total for the season a perfectly rounded 300 points – 2 tries, 55 conversions, 57 penalties, and 3 drop goals.
Two other awards just evaded the grasp of Drovers. Rob Appleyard lost out to Swansea’s Richard Webster as Coach of the Year, and Joe Ajuwa to Newport’s Andrew Coombs as Player of the Year.
The Principality Premiership clubs select the winners, in conjunction with the WRU Performance and Development department.
Congratulations to all our players and management for giving us such a successful season, and to Cerith for his award, and our commiserations to Rob and Joe for just being pipped to the post for theirs.
The full report of the Awards dinner can be seen on the WRU website
here.
Incidentally, if you’ve not yet looked through the Drovers’ stats for the year you can click through to any individual player’s record for the season via the Squad link within the Team tab on the menu bar, and to team stats via the Statistics tab on the menu bar. (But bear in mind that some of the longterm stats are affected by the fact that the match records for earlier years are not always complete - yet).
